Leeds United return to women’s football

Leeds Ladies are once more part of Leeds United Football Club, it was announced today, and they will revert back to their previous name of Leeds United LFC with immediate effect.

Having been part of Leeds United from their foundation in 1989 until the mid-2000s, they changed their name to Leeds Carnegie in 2008 as part of a sponsorship arrangement with Leeds Metropolitan University. They reverted to Leeds United in 2010, but were told they had to stop using the name again in 2014, when they were renamed Leeds Ladies.

Today’s news marks the beginning of the third spell playing under the name Leeds United.
